It feels too early to start thinking about Christmas.
The reality is, Thanksgiving is right around the corner, and 3 weeks after that it's Christmas. This year, I feel the urge to start decorating a bit earlier so I can enjoy the glow and coziness of our home before it's all over.
An item that I look forward to using in my designs are Christmas stockings. When we were first married, we lived in an apartment and didn't have a fire place, so I would hang stockings from our tiny dining room side board.
One year, I even hung them from our bar counter leading into the kitchen. You don't have to have a grand fireplace to enjoy stockings. I've seen them hung from shelves, staircase rails, and even on a narrow width wall.
Stockings are a wonderful way to infuse your design personality into your home, and they make a great statement piece all hung together.
I like the look of varying sweater cream toned stockings hung -some cableknit, some with pom poms, and some a plain knit.
Classic Christmas colors like red and green are comforting and great to fall back on. Delightful stripes and fair isle prints that are in the green and red color family can create a festive focal point.
Here are some stockings that caught my attention:
